The Green Corps recently announced it will be working in cooperation with Exceptional Living Center of Brazil, a not-for-profit organization, to provide this community with a drop-off center for the recycling of eyeglasses and hearing aids.

The Green Corps is a section of the First and Green Initiative.

The Green Corps is a group of more than 170 high school students from all over the state. Its focus is on environmental education and community involvement.

Each member was nominated to represent their school due to their interest and dedication to environmental affairs.

To date, the Green Corps members have participated in tree plantings, recycling and community beautification projects throughout the state.

Between now and the Super Bowl, scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 5, Green Corps will collaborate with each other, the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee, and their communities to participate in environmental projects of their own design.

Donations of eyeglasses and hearing aids may be made Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., at Exceptional Living Center, 501 S. Murphy Ave., Brazil. For further information, call 446-2636.

Kole Smith is the Clay County representative of Green Corps.
